Dr. Chong obtained a degree in Arts and Science from McMaster University before realizing his true calling. He then pursued a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Ontario Veterinary College followed by a general rotating internship at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic South in Toronto. This led to a Cardiology specialty internship at the Mississauga-Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital before returning to the Ontario Veterinary College for a residency in Cardiology. During his residency, he was also able to complete a Doctor of Veterinary Science project evaluating novel biomarkers in feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After acquiring his board certification in Cardiology by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dr. Chong joined the CTVRC team. Dr. Chong has a special interest in congenital cardiac disease, cardiovascular interventional procedures, and heart failure treatment.
